Responsible to: Payroll Manager

Job Type: Permanent

Hours per Week: 35 Hours

Salary: £25,500 per year

We are excited to offer this opportunity for a bright and committed individual to join our organization in the role of Payroll Officer.

Preferably you will be someone who has experience on similar role, although further training will be provided. What is essential, are good written and spoken communication skills as you will be dealing with a large number of service users and suppliers, mainly over the phone and by email.

This position requires accurate input of data, attention to detail and good numerical skills. In your day to day work you will be using Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and Outlook so excellent knowledge in these applications is essential. Working knowledge of Iris Payroll software and Quickbooks computerised accounts is desirable however training will be given to the right candidate.

The workload can vary during the month and different times of the year; therefore we are looking for someone who has excellent organizational skills, who knows how to prioritise tasks, who can manage workload and works well under pressure. You will be working with a friendly and supportive team so you must be someone who works well within a team and is respectable towards your colleagues.


Main duties:

  • Liaise with service users and colleagues in a clear and efficient manner.

  • Deal with all queries within the required timeframe.

  • Enter and maintain data and information quickly and accurately.

  • Keep all information confidential and comply with the companies policies on recording information and managing data.

  • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Ensure all employees’ wages are processed correctly and paid on time.

  • Ensure that correct payments, reports and returns are made to HMRC, occupational pension providers and other statutory bodies.

  • Keep up to date with all the changes in legislation in relation to statutory deductions, RTI, Auto Enrolment or any other changes that effect our sector and apply them in your work.
